The nation is more than 5,000 years old. It’s been fought over, pissed on, divided and subdivided. It’s been invaded by more conquerors than any of us can begin to imagine. And America, in its naïveté thought that they we, a nation formed by immigrants from all over the world, with our less than 400 years of experience and only one civil war thought we could bring a lasting democratic form of government to Iraq? What the hell kind of arrogance is that? Better yet, what kinds of stupidity is that?

America is a developed, highly technological, and somewhat futuristic nation. In parts of Iraq, they still stone people to death or cut off a limb. In its worst gangster days, Americans killed members of other gangs. In Iraq, if there is a feud, one kills not only the offending party but the entire family…mother, father, sisters, brothers, children, aunts, uncles, grandparents, nephews, and nieces. Why…Because they want no one left to ever come after members of their family. I don’t know about you, but that to me is just a wee bit obsessive. In America, we can’t remember who our BFF was a year ago. In Iraq, they remember offending remarks or actions that go back thousands of years.

When we went to war to remove the dictator Saddam Hussein, did we honestly believe that we were doing them a favor? If we did, it was even greater naiveté plus stupidity on our part. The pot of humanity is always at the boil in the Middle East. Are we so ignorant that we haven’t seen that during our brief history? Have our ambassadors and various secretaries of state had their collective heads buried so far in the sands of the Middle East that they haven’t understood the mentality that pervades the region? Forget the few civilized members of the population in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, for while the few are trying to modernize their countries, the many are at war with both the few and with other ‘tribes.’ That’s what they are…tribes. Only in this case, the tribes have access to modern weapons and are not afraid to use them. They are not even afraid to strap explosives to their bodies and kill themselves if it means they can gain an advantage over another tribe or another invader, an infidel if you will.

Being religious is one thing; being a radical religionist is something quite different. The people to whom America and its developed country allies are trying to bring peace and harmony are completely unaware of the meaning of either of those words. When we pull our troops out of Afghanistan, do we believe that radical Muslims won’t attack Kabul, Kandahar, Heart, or Gardez? How stupid can the leadership of America be?

“It is in our national interest to remain in Afghanistan,” says President Obama. “We must invade Iraq because they have weapons of mass destruction that could be used against us,” said President Bush. Both statements were bullshit; pure unadulterated, straight from the butt bullshit! I find it impossible to agree with Fox military analyst, Retired General Dr. Robert Scales, when he insists that we must stay in the area to prevent chaos and to keep an eye on Iran. Why, why must we do this? We have satellites; we should be growing our HUMINT; we should not be sacrificing the lives of young American men and woman simply to support corrupt administrations that we put in place and that are attempting to bleed American dollars from a budget that could be far better spent on home projects.

If we stay in the Middle East for any reason, any reason at all, we are making a mistake. There are enough people in the countries I’ve named who hate America, Americans, and everything for which we stand that the jihadists will never quit. Hell, they’ll never quit anyway. All we have done is to provide them with the weapons they can use to carry on their wars…and we gave ‘em the good stuff, too!

While it is difficult for most civilized people to believe that anyone would choose to live under a code such as that proposed by Shariah Law, particularly females, we should not forget that it wasn’t until 1839 that women in America were allowed to hold property; that their rights were subsumed to their husbands before that time. Today, we talk of equal rights for women in this country when we all know that equal doesn’t mean equal at all. Therefore, if the radical Muslims wish to fight and create a state where the laws of Mesopotamia and Methuselah once reigned supreme, fine, let them have it. Better that they should kill one another and wipe out their entire race of people than to have them continually pissed at American invaders or corrupt government in their own lands.

Am I saying that America should just pull all of their troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan? Sure; why not; I don’t see how things could get any worse. Children won’t get educated in the area; women will be treated like crap; men will get pissed at their neighbor for stealing some goat’s milk and they’ll feud over that until one family or the other is eliminated; there will be chaos that Ayatollah’s won’t be able to control. The nations will be composed of the haves and have not’s – oh, gee, that sounds like today’s America – and the anger will eventually be turned back toward the United States. It’s at that point that we unleash our technological fury in such a manner that not one city, town, village, or person remains alive. Will that start WWIII? I rather doubt it because enough cooler heads will have seen the idiocy of the Iraqi and Afghani immorality and agree that strong action was demanded. “What about the United Nations,” someone will doubtless ask. Certainly the UN has done some wonderful things to help nations that have evidenced a desire to be helped, but there comes a point when nations that demonstrate their unwillingness to follow a peaceful path to development must either be abandoned or destroyed. Both Iraq and Afghanistan have proven so inept in putting honest governments in place; have demonstrated a total inability to control their own people; have sucked so much blood from the young men and women of other UN nations that it’s time the UN cast them aside and let them destroy themselves as part of a natural order.

President Obama, please, please, please, get those soldiers, marines, airmen and women, as well as naval personnel out of the area and brought back home. We don’t need any more gold stars in windows. Let’s concentrate on what needs to be done in America for Americans. You have a year and a half left; let this be your legacy…you brought home the troops.

The Tsarnaev brothers remind me a great deal of the suicide bombers in the Middle East. Well, maybe that’s not quite true; after all, they didn’t strap symtex or dynamite to their chests, run out and cross the finish line and then blow themselves up. On the other hand, they were vicious, malicious, arrogant, impetuous and ignorant. I’m willing to bet that it was their impetuousness that began an entire series of jihadist efforts to terrorize America. The problem is that they didn’t see the big picture and started too soon.

The big picture consisted of a series of events that would culminate in the July 4th bombing at the Hatch Shell concert on the esplanade in Boston. The first part of the plan, as I see it, called for the railroad accident between Boston and New York. I have no idea how many commuters ride that train each day but you have to admit that it certainly did screw up commuter systems and with that, a certain amount of slowdown in what was going to be accomplished from an economics standpoint.

After closing rail service for a month – which one didn’t work out too well either, did it folks – the next step would be to destroy rail lines between Baltimore and the rest of the southern part of the East Coast. We’re going to have to wait to determine the effectiveness of that bit of sabotage.

Do I sound like a conspiracy theorist? The answer to that is an absolute, one hundred percent…yes! There are just too many of these ‘accidents’ taking place where and when they should not. The explosions aboard the barges in Alabama, a convenient bridge collapse on the Interstate 5 Bridge in Washington State, and who knows what other little plans are in the works. Granted, the bridge collapse can be explained by its age but who really knows. Did the truck hit it by accident or did something happen to the steering mechanism. Perhaps that one is too easy to explain, but at the rate things are happening in the US of A, I’m not going to discount anything.

“Next thing you know, you’ll be blaming the tornadoes!” Sadly, these things happen. Towns that happen to be in ‘tornado alley’ or along that route face danger during the changeover from winter to spring and on into summer. Hell, I doubt if the jihadists want to be anywhere near that region.

Every so often, the FBI or Homeland Security will release a report concerning how many plots were foiled during a given time. As a former low-level intelligence analyst, it always makes me wonder just how much isn’t being released; how much Americans are being kept – albeit for their own peace of mind – unaware of the entire number of plots that have been foiled. Transparency, what transparency? There is no such thing as transparency when it comes to the release of intelligence. It can give too much of an edge to those who would see America brought to its knees.

One of these days, someone will have to explain to me what makes America such a horrible nation that it must be destroyed. Is it the fact that we are rich in resources and share those resources with the rest of the world? Is it the fact that for some strange reason we are able to breed the likes of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, or Dean Kamen? Perhaps it’s the television shows we export that show such a distorted view of America where everyone lives “the dream.” Maybe those who would destroy us don’t see or don’t wish to see that we have our own share of poverty and homelessness. Perhaps they are blind to our crumbling infrastructure and a government that is in such a state of disrepair, that we are the laughing stock of the rest of the civilized world. That word is emboldened and italicized because it is the uncivilized who want to take us down. If we should fail as a nation, what do we become? Will we ever reach the depths of the Tsarnaevs of Chechnya, or the sand fleas training in Saudi Arabia and other countries? These are the countries that masquerade as our friends and allies while providing training grounds for those who for some blind reason wish to see America a dead country.

Tiny terrorist attacks will continue long after I’m nothing but gone. Will there ever be another terrorist attack the magnitude of September 11, 2001? Certainly there will be an attempt at one. Whether or not it will succeed will depend entirely on how good our domestic intelligence does its job and how well we are able to analyze the actual threat. We didn’t believe the intelligence the last time; one can only hope that we are wiser when the next shot is fired across our bow.

I’ve heard some people say, “Let’s close our borders to people from ‘those’ Middle Eastern countries.” That’s not a solution; it’s not even a quick fix. It’s exactly the type of aberrant behavior that our enemies would exploit to their advantage. What we don’t want are radical immigrants who wish to subjugate their rules for those that already exist in this country. Whether it’s attempting to institute Sharia law in Minnesota or establishing their own small ‘countries’ in Tennessee and Virginia, these things cannot be allowed. We may be “the land of the free,” but your ‘free’ stops right where mine begins, and if you don’t like that, go home; I was here first and I’m not going anywhere.

It seems to me that the term, “melting pot,” should be eliminated from our language. There was a time when a group of malcontents from across the pond came over to this new found land and began to civilize it. All of this was done with a grant from King George II who believed that Britain had the right to control everything that went on over here…sorry, George. Then some of those malcontents – we might refer to them as pure malcontentists – broke away and settled elsewhere. Like so many people of the time, they had their own religious beliefs, and they didn’t quite conform to the first malcontents.

Are you sufficiently confused that I might move along or do we need to go back and read the first paragraph again? No, good, because I’m still confused. Anyway, as time went on – and this is like a century or so – more people from more countries decided that this place by then called the United States of America offered more promise of getting rich than their own country. The Chinese came…and they were hated, kept in menial positions until they finally set up their own culture in various parts of the country. They were hard-working and they made a difference. The Italians came and were treated by those already here in much the same way as the Chinese, but they, too, became absorbed into the land mass. Before you say anything about the Italians bringing the Mafia to this new land, you might be interested to learn that the Tongs had already made a similar impact on the Chinese population. The Swedes and the Dutch had already been here for a while and had already been absorbed…almost. The  Irish, Jews, Greeks, Armenians, Russians, Germans, and a whole pile of malcontents made their way to American shores and guess what happened? They were absorbed. Yes, they had their own culture, but they also created what is today the culture of America. Some parts we all understand; other parts still confuse us and that’s good. Just think what it would be like if everyone of us came from the same “situation;” what a dull and boring place this would be.

It’s dissatisfaction that has made America great. Whether it’s been a Black man inventing an automatic oiling system for railroad cars, a German inventing automatic clinical chemical analyzers, or an Irishman who developed improved versions of the phonograph – that’s an Ipod with a needle, kids – foreign born Americans are the sauce that has made this country a good part of what it is. People have come to our shores and worshipped as they wish, sometimes with prejudice, sometimes without. It seems to me, however, that things they are a-changing.

Islamic militants are arriving on our shores with their own idea of what laws they should obey and what laws they can make on their own. From the “20 Point Plan for Conquering the United States by 2010” to the number of huge Islamic centers being built, these folks just scare the living daylights out of me. It was Islamic extremists who were responsible for 911; yet we have turned the other cheek and welcomed tens of thousands of them into our country as refugees. Tennessee appears to be ground zero for a number of Islamic “centers” being built. Yes, the state does have a large population of Muslims, but I don’t personally believe their requirements are as great as they are being portrayed. In addition, Sharia Law, which is anathema to our Constitution, seems to be dominating thoughts of some state legislators.

Let me just cite a few of the “20 points” designed to bring the US to its knees:  1.“Wage a war of words using black leaders like Louis Farrakhan, Rev. Jesse Jackson and other visible religious personalities who promote Islam as the religion of African-Americans while insisting Christianity is for whites only. What they fail to tell African-Americans is that it was Arab Muslims who captured them and sold them as slaves. In fact, the Arabic word for black and slave is the same, ”Abed.”  2. “Nominate Muslim sympathizers to political office to bring about favorable legislation toward Islam and support potential sympathizers by block voting.”  3.’Terminate America’s freedom of speech by replacing it with statewide and nationwide hate-crime bills”. 4.“Yell ”foul, out-of-context, personal interpretation, hate crime, Zionist, un- American, inaccurate interpretation of the Quran” anytime Islam is criticized or the Quran is analyzed in the public arena.”

Frankly, I don’t care if only a small part of this is true. If it is a part of a plan to subvert America and our heritage, my reaction is that we need to do something now. We are currently engaged in open warfare against Muslim extremists and Islamic fundamentalists. Wouldn’t this be the equivalent of allowing the Japanese to build air bases in Nebraska prior to WWII. It makes no sense. We have already seen too many home grown terrorists trying to disrupt this or that. I’m sorry but if you don’t like us, stay the hell away. We already have enough problems without having to worry having to be eaten from within.

Do I sound like one of those conservative zealots who are always ranting and raving about this or that? I hope not, but I just see something that really bothers me and I wish a few more people would look at it from my position. I’ll be dead by 2020; I know that, so I really don’t have to give a damn. However, my children and grandchildren will still be alive and worshiping at their local Catholic church…until they’re told they can’t!
